Improper fractions and mixed numbers can be confusing, but these task cards provide a fun way for students to practice concepts dealing with mixed numbers and improper fractions. The cards can be used in a center, for scavenger hunts, or to play Scoot.
This set includes 32 task cards, a student response sheet, and an answer key. The first 8 task cards have picture models on them to help students visualize mixed numbers and improper fractions (they must write a mixed number and improper fractions for each picture). Students must convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and improper fractions to mixed numbers for cards 9-24 without picture models. The last 8 cards require students to add and subtract mixed numbers with LIKE denominators and write their answers in simplest form. Download the preview to see the task cards up close.
**All of my task card sets now include a one-page (6 question) quick assessment with an answer key. I sometimes use these to assess my students after completing the center or later in the week as a quiz grade.**
These task cards are aligned to the following Common Core State Standards: 4.NF.3c
