Do you teach students about improving and combining sentences? I have been looking for a fun and engaging way to try to help my students move from writing simplistic sentences to more interesting, descriptive sentences to make their writing more sophisticated.

I also wanted to make sure my students understand different ways to combine smaller sentences into complex sentences--a critical writing skill that is often a part of standardized testing!

Would you like to be able to have printable cards AND digital access all in one resource? READ ON!

This set of 24 sentence "improving" and combining task cards is perfect to use as a practice opportunity for whole class instruction, in literacy centers, or to use as an instructional tool when working with students needing extra practice in this area. Cards are made with an easy-to-read font and are available in color and black and white and include several pictures of the resource in action as well as blank cards so you can write your own versions!

Many intermediate students need explicit coaching in the different ways to make their basic sentences more complex and more interesting. This resource allows you a simple and convenient way to showcase several different ways that are easy for students to grasp—and can help not only with improving their writing but also help prepare for standardized tests where sentence combining is often assessed.

Also included are several recording sheets and supplemental ideas to allow for flexibility of use. ENJOY!
