A really FUN way to get your students up out of their desks and being creative on their feet!
This "Improvised Fairy Tale Project" challenges students to start with the storyline of a well known classic fairy tale, and then change-up, modernize, and re-invent to their hearts content! It all winds up with a fully IMPROVISED version of their new tale, with special points added in the rubric for CREATIVITY and FUN IDEAS!
I've seen come great versions of "Little Red, riding in The Hood!", "The Three LIttle Dreamgirls Pigs," and yes....even "Cinderella's Revenge!?" LOL
This is a great way to introduce stage basics to kids in a theater, drama, or performing arts classes, but it's also a great way to promote creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and just plain ole' CREATIVITY in any subject!
Could also be used as a great "jumping off point" to have students improvise their fairy tale first, and then turn into a full fledge creative writing project by continuing the process and writing (and editing) into script format!
