A PowerPoint presentation designed to be used in conjunction with a SmartBoard to teach physics students about Momentum and Impulse. Key interactions, internal explosions, elastic and inelastic collisions, are emphasized. An in-class experiment is included to examine an internal explosion under realistic conditions. I use two students on physics carts (mass both students with carts beforehand). One student pushes the other away with his/her legs. I determine velocity of each student using Pasco Pasport units and motion sensors, which I then use to create the graphs(d vs. t)and find their velocity after the interaction (slope of line). Students calculate momentum of both carts and determine percent difference. I print out handouts (two to a page) and make copies for my students to use as notes.
