This is an in-class essay reflection that allows students to practice writing two in-class essays, reflect on their writing using a "teacher lens", while helping cut down on grading for teachers. (Who doesn't love that?!) I use this assignment when I do not have time in a unit for a full process essay/essay revision, but would still like the students to take time to reflect on their writing.
Directions: Throughout the unit, have the students write two in-class essays. Following the second in-class essay, have the students complete the essay reflection, identifying which essay they would like you to grade.
Resources Needed: Two previously written in class essays and the Reflection Activity Handout.
This assignment takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.
