Product Description
This assignment, accompanied with a thorough rubric, asks students to create their own synthesis prompt and essay based issues found in Truman Capote's In Cold Blood. There are nine prompt suggestions (or students can create their own). They are responsible for finding five academic sources that could be used to defend, qualify, AND challenge the prompt. They must then create an annotated bibliography that cites the source and explains how it could be used to address the prompt. Students must include a citation for In Cold Blood as well.
The rubric assesses the annotated bibliography and utilizes the AP Language 0-9 synthesis rubric to assess the essay.
Be sure to edit the handout to include steps for finding sources at your school library - though I highly recommend Opposing Viewpoints through the GALE Database.
Also, be sure to edit "Sources you may use from class." The list included came from activities we did while reading the novel - this list is a great resource as well.
