Activity 1: Sensory Language Cards & Writing Prompt
Students can sort cards according to association. Does the word describe the lion or the lamb? Word cards include wind, roar, rattles, scratches, winter, scatters sleet, hail, snick, pounce, growl, howl, soft morning, breeze, buds, glide, stride, green, grass, sunshine, babies. Then students can use sensory language to describe the month of March in the writing prompt.
Activity 2: Parts of Speech Word Cards & Printable
Students can sort the word cards into nouns, verbs and adjectives. All of the words on the word cards appear in the book. Printable can be used for independent work or evaluation. Students use a given word bank to classify nouns, verbs, and adjectives from the book.
Activity 3: Describing Characters Using Adjectives
Students choose 4 adjectives to describe the lion and/or the lamb in the form of a character web.
Activity 4: Reading Response Task Cards
Students answer reading response questions about personification, literal and non-literal meaning, mood, and character traits.
