This activity is designed to be similar to by Feed the Penguin Bilabial Sounds Activity. The focus here is on alveolar sounds in CV, CVC, and CVCV syllable shapes.
Contents: Word list for auditory bombardment, 4 dog house pages (1 blank, 1 each labeled T, D, N); 12 word cards for each of the three target sounds (T, D, N) with 4 words per target syllable shape (CV, CVC, CVCV), 1 large dog with 24 bones (reinforcement activity).
Directions: Put the dogs in their correct homes. Attach dog houses to file folders or empty tissue boxes. Cut out the door. Have students say target words as they put each dog in a house. (You can use one blank house or three different houses labeled with the target sounds).
Alternate: Students can sort dog cards by the initial sounds.
Bonus Activity: Use the large dog/dog bones for a reinforcement activity for any goal or during drill work. Attach the dog to file folder or empty tissue box, cut a hole for the mouth and feed the bones to the dog.
