Looking for something to do to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month? Are you reading or going to read The House on Mango Street?

“In The Mind of Sandra Cisneros” is an all-inclusive mini poetry unit highlighting two of Sandra Cisneros’ poems ("I Am On My Way to Oklahoma to Bury the Man I Nearly Left My Husband For" and "One Last Poem for Richard"). This unit can be read side by side with The House on Mango Street, as an introduction to Cisneros and The House on Mango Street or as a solitary unit.

This unit is aligned with Common Core (see standards below) and takes a gradual release approach. Teacher directions are included! Activities are student-directed, group oriented, fun, and engaging!
