Reinforce sight words, labeling a picture, drawing/writing a fact, and main idea and details with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "In the Pond" mini book practices the sight words do, you, see, a the, in. The story features semi-predictable text and shows a variety of plants and animals, that can be found at a pond. I have included two response activities. First, students will complete a “match flip book” main idea and details graphic organizer. Given the main idea, students will draw and write details from the text. Detailed directions are included with this easy to complete activity! Once complete, students will be eager to share their creations. You can also attach each to colored construction paper and use as part of a pond theme bulletin board or hallway display. Second, students will complete an "In the Pond" flip book. On the first page, students will draw a picture of a pond. On the second page, they will write one or more sentences to describe the picture. On the last page, they will color a picture of a pond. Then, they will cut and glue labels to match the plants and animals in the pond.
