In the Tall, Tall Grass by: Denise Fleming is a beautifully illustrated picture book about the tiny life living in the tall grass. Young children will enjoy this read-aloud and the many fun and engaging activities in the packet.

This packet includes the following:

Story Visuals-caterpillar, humming bird, bee, bird, ant, snake, mole, beetle, toad, rabbit, firefly, and bat can be used for story retell, sequencing, making stick puppets, describing, compare/contrast, etc.

15 Rhyming word pairs (30 total)-Color coded rhyming card pairs to identify and match, as well as create extension activities with word families, articulation practice, and phonics-based activities.

Vocabulary Cards with Visuals-glide, sip, swoop, glow

4 Different Singular/plural Noun Smash Mats-bee/bees, snake/snakes, etc. Students roll small balls of dough and “SMASH” them on the mats during receptive and expressive language activities. Students can locate or identify the items described (“I see one bee.” or “I see two bees.”) or create grammatically correct sentences using N-V agreement (“One bat flies.” or “Two bats fly.”).

Draw and Write-Students with emerging written language skills can draw and write about what lives in the “Tall, Tall Grass.”

Articulation Word List-Age-appropriate word list for preK-1st Grade, including: /l/, /s/, /f/, /k/ and /g/.
