The year is 1438 C.E. Pachacuti, the 9th ruler of the Inca Empire, just conquered the Chancas, a warlike and violent Native American group. With this conquest, the Chancas are now part of the Inca Empire and the Chancas are required to work for the empire. The land that the Chancas once ruled has become part of the Inca Empire and is now owned by Pachacuti.
Your students have been hired as Pachacuti’s advisors. Their task is to create a Terms of Conquest, which is a set of rules that explains how Pachacuti should conquer Native American groups and how he should manage them once they are integrated into the empire. Students will design their Terms of Conquest so it allows the Inca Empire to become the most powerful and well-managed empire in the world.
