To add some life to a typically boring subject, I researched facts about "The Walking Dead" on AMC and incorporated them into complex sentences. Then, the students' task is to identify the subordinate clauses within the sentences.
My students were interested to learn these facts about one of their favorite TV shows, and I was happy to take some of the monotony out of a typically boring concept.
We actually used this as an in class "game"! I displayed the file on my Promethean Board, and each class was given a "bite" for an incorrect answer. If the class could make it out of the game "alive" without being bitten 3 times, then there was no homework for that night!
The answer key as well as Microsoft Word and PDF versions of this assignment are included.
