Independent reading can be a daunting task if not done correctly and purposefully. This product can help create independent readers and learners!
Start off by creating goals for your young readers something to work toward. The goals are standard Post-it(TM) note size and can be printed on colored paper. Using a repositionable glue stick, you can make the stickies stick! Kids can use the goal-setting t-chart or the large bookmark to keep track of goals they are working toward!
Can't read without your books! It happens! Occasionally, books will go missing! The "Missing Book Notice" or the "Book Bag Notice" will help to get parents and kids on the right track. Designed in color and black & white, male & female, English & Spanish, and a template to create your own!
Once the kids have their books at school, you can add additional accountability by providing book logs which are available for every reader, from a re-reading log to logs where kids can track pages read, minutes read, and/or genres. A graph to track genres is also included. Logs are framed in seasonal decor for each month and log. Also, a reflection sheet so that kids can think about what how they've done and where they need to go!
You may choose to use the strategy bookmarks for an added visual. These bookmarks are for fluency, re-reading, and stamina. Black & white too!
Kids also need to be taught how to choose books and I have included the Goldilocks Method to choosing books in posters and strategy bookmarks. Kids learn how to choose just-right books from your classroom library!
Lastly, I have included a bulletin board for re-reading! Perfect visual reminders plus a banner that reads "RE-READ!"
Get your kids movin' and improvin' with their reading!
