When students are asked to read independently and write a response to what they read, they sometimes don't know where to start. This two page independent reading response starters are perfect. Download them, print them for each student, have students glue in Reading Response Journals or put in Reading Folders with reading log sheets, and they can use over and over again. It doesn't matter what section of a book students are reading, since response starter ideas are given for any section being read. Response ideas include: starting a new book, title/cover, plot, characters, predictions, compare/contrast, setting, tone, figurative language, imagery, finishing a book, and personal reactions. This will be a great assest for students when they read and need to respond independently.
