Make the most of independent reading with Stop Light Think Tasks. These task cards help direct student thinking while they read independently.
What Are Stop Light Think Tasks?
These are question task cards that I used to direct students’ thinking during their independent reading time. This set is aligned to common core standards for grades 3-5. There are 12 of each type of question (see question types below). Students draw cards (one of each type) to answer by the end of the week or you could also assign all students to answer the same questions. Student recording sheet included. Great to use as homework, DEAR, or stations/rotations. The questions work with ALL picture books and chapter books. They can even be used to mix up guided reading or your class read aloud.
Red=Questions that ask students to apply the book to their life
Yellow=Questions that require evidence based answers.
Green=Basic comprehension questions.
Includes editable blank task cards to create your own questions! (Fonts will not automatically transfer. Font name for the number is Frijole from Google and can be downloaded separately, if desired. The body of the task card uses Arial.)
