This bundle of resources is everything you need to facilitate a productive independent reading block in your classroom. These resources, used and tested in my own classroom, are designed to engage students in the process of setting reading goals, hold students accountable for independent reading and encourage students to track their reading progress throughout the year. Using these tools in my classroom, I saw independent reading time transformed from thirty minutes of mindless staring to students actually reading and comprehending books at their independent level!
The Independent Reading Toolkit includes:
*Reading Progress Record: A ready to use way to track what students are reading and for how long.
*Book Chat Sign Up Sheet: A tool to keep track of which students are finished reading and ready to chat!
*Book Chat Questions for Fiction and Non-Fiction: A list of questions for Book Chats that work with any text!
* Reading Conference Notes: a half-page note taking sheet that can be used to keep track of reading conferences with students. This note taking page can be used with any text and includes information on fluency, comprehension and next steps!
* My Reading Goals (Student Notebook Page): A tool to help students track their goals
*My Reading Progress (Student Notebook Page): A tool to help students track their reading progress throughout the school year
*Instructions on how to set up your independent reading block and how to use all of these tools in your classroom!
