Help your students to love reading with the Independent Reading/SSR Resources: Book Review. These must-have resources will help you to help assess an independent reading time or Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) program (also known as Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) and Reading Workshop). Use the Book Review as an alternative to the traditional book report. The Book Review is a real-world assignment to help gauge students comprehension of their SSR book and to give them an authentic reason to write. Includes notes explaining how this has been used with my own classes, the Information Sheet for the Book Review, a Score Sheet for the Book Review, Examples of poorly-written and well-written Book Reviews, a cover page for your collection of Book Reviews, and a chart for suggested reading as your students share their book reviews with the class. This document is also included in the Independent Reading/SSR Resources: All-in-One DEAL; the Start of School, Team-Building, and Reading MEGA Package; and the Literature Circles: Curriculum Materials MEGA Unit All-in-One DEAL.
