Help your students to love reading with the Independent Reading/SSR Resources: Book Talks. These resources will help you to help assess an independent reading time or Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) program (also known as Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) and Reading Workshop). Use the Book Talk as real-world assignment to help gauge students comprehension of their SSR book, to assess fluency, and to give them an authentic reason to speak to an audience. Includes notes explaining how the Book Talk has been used with my own classes, the Information Sheet for Book Talks, a Rubric for the Book Talks, and a chart in which to list suggested reading from your students' book talks. This document is also included in the Independent Reading/SSR Resources: All-in-One DEAL; the Start of School, Team-Building, and Reading MEGA Package; and the Literature Circles: Curriculum Materials MEGA Unit All-in-One DEAL.
