I use this assignment as an assessment at the end of a short story unit focusing on cultural perspective, characterization, conflict, and point of view. Through the process of differentiation, I assign students different stories to read ("The Scarlet Ibis", "Rules of the Game", and "The Sniper"). Students must complete the independent analysis guide during and after reading their assigned story. I have this assessment as a WORD file because I reference videos I made for instructional support and the specific town my school is in. As a WORD file, you may edit these details as you wish. Materials for all three short stories are included in this file. It will take students 3-4 class period to complete this work.
