For this activity, students will conduct two experiments using red and blue chips (you can use bingo chips, poker chips or any other type of chip you can find). If you do not have access to chips, you can use blue and red pieces of construction paper cut into small circles or squares.
One of the experiments demonstrates a dependent event and the other demonstrates an independent event. Students are asked to record their results and make a conclusion about independent and dependent events. This is a fun activity for students that will grab their attention and it won't take more than one class period.
