Product Description
Using an Index is intended to be used in a school library media center setting to introduce the use of an index within many types of non-fiction material. It can easily be incorporated into a unit of study that is being done in the classroom so that it is not taught in isolation, but at the point of need. Working with a classroom teacher is ideal.

Included in this package:
★ 9 illustrated cards of different bat varieties (Thank you, Educlips)
★ 2 types of response pages to record information
★ 2 anchor charts
★ 1 display sign
★ BONUS craftivity

Teaching Tips:
This product is versatile enough to be used with different grade levels or skill levels and lends itself perfectly to small group work.

The 2 levels of response sheets to record information can be used separately or together, making this a one or two step lesson.

Create a display with encyclopedias, field guides, non-fiction books about mammals, bats, nocturnal animals, etc. that can be used for 'indexing' instruction.

Use the bat info pages to make an informative class booklet culminating the bat study. There are color and black & white pictures included.

Make a mobile display of bats using the craftivity for early finishers.

Products in this reference skill series are:
Using an INDEX: Bat Theme.
Using an INDEX: Penguin Theme.
Using an INDEX: Butterfly Theme.
Using an INDEX: BUNDLE.
