PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This worksheet is a companion to the short story "Indian Education" by Sherman Alexie, from his collection entitled The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, on which the film Smoke Signals is based.

I use this story as a companion piece to the movie Smoke Signals within a unit in which we read Pigs In Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver, but it can certainly stand alone as a good example of Native literature and invites many thought provoking discussion topics about identity and culture in our country.

The story can be read aloud and students would have time to complete the five, 2-part, questions in a 40 minute period, and finish them for homework if need be.
