This product is a student handout. It had primary source excerpt from Andrew Jackson's second annual message, a speech given by Senator Frelinghuysen to Congress in 1830, and Cherokee John Ross in 1829. After each excerpt there are reading comprehension questions.
At the end of the readings, there are questions that link this unit on Westward expansion to my previous unit on the founding of our nation.
This product includes challenging reading. I have modified the excerpt to include synonyms and definitions to words that may be unfamiliar to students.
