This is a free lesson that is part of Reading Through History's unit on the Indian Removal Act, the removal of the Five Civilized Tribes to Indian Territory, and the Trail of Tears. It contains a one page reading detailing the process of the treaties and removal that led to the members of the Creek Nation being moved to Fort Gibson in the present day state of Oklahoma. The section also includes three pages of student activities to accompany the lesson.
This is part of a larger unit that is available here: The Trail of Tears
*My students typically complete the work in about 30 minutes. This provides for 10 to 15 minutes of discussion/intro prior to the assignment.
This lesson is from Volume I of our Oklahoma history workbook series. Read more about the workbook here: Oklahoma History Workbook I
