The Indian River Lagoon is in turmoil. Consequences of fertilizers, detergents, and runoff have wiped out much of the life in the lagoon. Students are assigned the task of creating real life solutions for this crisis. They create currents using a density model to show how a change in density can allow for mixing of water, which can aid in the recovery of the lagoon. They then have to apply this to create a model of a system to help solve this issue as a whole.
