India. Caste System. Brahmin. Kshatriya. Vaishya. Shudra. Dalits. Harijan. Untouchables.
If you are looking for an interactive way to teach the Caste System in India, this is the lesson for you! This is a full lesson for the Caste System that uses different learning styles. This lesson takes about 1-2 hours, and helps the students learn about each of the different caste systems. This can lead into a great class discussion about the caste system, and how it has lasted for so many years. This is part of my Breakup of the British Empire (Core Knowledge) Unit. My students had a great time!
This resource uses KAGAN cooperative learning strategies to answer critical thinking questions, and the questions were created using various Depth of Knowledge levels (DOK) for critical thinking. You will enjoy it if you teach World History or India's History.
This resource includes:
1) Short PowerPoint Notes explaining the caste system, and each of the levels.
2) Directions for a Caste System poster project.
3) KAGAN cooperative learning questions to wrap it all up.
