A full unit that focuses on the relationship between Canada and its Indigenous People from Confederation to present day. Students work to answer 2 essential questions which are written on posters at the beginning of the unit. Includes possible lesson suggestions and ideas, worksheets and 6 Power Point presentations to help teach concepts such as Aboriginal 101, Treaty Relationships, The Indian Act, Reserves, Residential Schools and First Nations culture and practices. Includes video companions to CBC's 8th Fire Documentaries as well as a possible unit test with answer key. Great resource for teachers trying to integrate Indigenous perspectives in the classroom. Please note that some cultural information is specific to the province of Manitoba, but can easily be adapted for other Canadian provinces. Canadian appropriate for grades 5 and up.
