A federal law called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that public schools create an IEP for every child receiving special education services. The IEP is meant to address each child’s unique learning issues and include specific educational goals. The IEP is a legally binding document. The school must provide everything it promises in the IEP.
This document offers private schools the option of a one-page IEP document that can be started in middle school or the freshman year of high school to ensure your special needs student is on the right course for post-secondary educational goals.
It includes pertinent information for each student including:
Expected year of completion
Post-secondary educational or training goals
Post-secondary employment goals
Other issues of of concern
This form can then be updated each year in conferencing. It is in Excel format so categories can be changed.
