Reading Goals For Individual Children – Posters and Tracking Forms
I am really excited about this resource as I have been wanting to be able to help the children track their reading skills for some time now. It took me a while to figure out a workable process and I believe after using it with my class, I have.
I have created a couple of different ways to organise the resource. I personally prefer the children to choose a strategy from one of the posters to work on at a time (OPTION 2). I felt the form with all strategies (Option 1) was a little overwhelming for some of my kids. I also like that the children place a peg on the main poster with their name on it so I have a quick reference to where each child is working at any given time. During reading groups I have the children bring their Reading goals booklet to the group and before reading to me, they revise their focus goal.
You will notice that I have left some extra room on each Poster for you to add specific strategies you may use with your class when teaching the different aspects of Reading.
The goals are organised into 3 main Categories:
•COMPREHENSION (visualising, summarising, making connections, activating prior knowledge, synthesising, recall, self-monitoring…)
