In this activity, students explore the ruins of the Indus River Valley civilization and work with a group to develop theories to answer different questions about their society. Then they must create a presentation to defend their theories. It allows students to take charge of their learning and to interact with real historical evidence.
The product include an assignment sheet with a brief explanation about the Indus River Valley civilization and the project requirements, observation record sheets for the students to record their observations and theories, and a project checklist for the students to make sure they have completed everything required to get a good grade.
This project is designed to take approximately 5-7 class periods and can also be adapted for classrooms with less access for technology, if needed.
