Indus Valley Civilization Webquest and Video Analysis with Key- this is a 10 page document that contains a webquest and a completed teachers key for easy marking. It contains 25 questions based on a Crash Course World History video, the Ancient History online encyclopedia, and Ancient History.org.
Students will begin this assignment by watching the Crash Course video: Indus Valley Civilization. The video will first introduce the idea of civilization: What does it require to be recognized as a great civilization? The video will then introduce the Indus valley, the importance of its rivers, and the technological advancements of the cities in the Indus Valley. The ruins of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro are both explored and their intricate plumbing system is explained. The writing system of the Indus Valley Civilization is also mentioned, however we do not know how to translate it. The video concludes with three theories behind the collapse of the Indus Valley Civilization. Following the video, students will travel to two separate websites about the ancient civilization. The peacefulness of the culture (few weapons have ever been found), their trade networks, and the importance of looking out for everyone in this civilization are all covered.
This webquest can be easily used as an introduction to the topic, a study guide, or a quick and easy sub plan.
