You can have your students complete the lesson/activity any way you would like.

★★ Directions for jigsaw activity:
• Your teacher will place you into your collaborative groups.
• Each group will be assigned a reading passage.
• With your group, analyze the reading passage, answer the questions that follow, and complete your part of the graphic organizer.
• Then, based on your new knowledge of the Industrial Revolution and your new knowledge of your assigned reading passage, you and your group will create an advertisement promoting your assigned document. Make sure you include any people and specific details in your advertisement.
• Be colorful and creative! You will be responsible for presenting your work to your class. They will be learning from you! As each group presents, you will complete your graphic organizer with the information presented.

★ Usually a two-day activity.

Students will analyze the close-reading passages and complete the corresponding scaffolding questions and graphic organizer. They will then create an advertisement promoting a person, place, invention, or improvement during the Industrial Revolution.

Adheres to Social Studies Common Core Standards - research, application, literacy, vocabulary, creating arguments with evidence

Differentiation: cooperative {students may work in pairs/groups according to teacher's discretion for graphic organizers}; students argue their opinions and make predictions using relevant examples and details from the lesson and their knowledge of social studies.
