In this activity, students will assume the role of a thief attempting to steal Thomas Edison's phonograph blueprints. Their main objective will be to cooperatively solve a series of puzzles which will require both logical thinking skills as well as content knowledge on the Industrial Revolution. Each of the three steps of the escape room will require different knowledge and skills to complete which will hopefully make the exercise a meaningful cooperative learning activity to review the Industrial Revolution.
In this activity there are a total of 12 documents, with each part of the escape room having four documents that the students are working with. There is also a teacher guide which details how to conduct the activity and also includes how to solve each part of the escape room. Nothing beyond perhaps a set of scissors for each group is required. The documents are very adaptable if you wanted to alter something about the activity or add certain content to it.
Content covered in the escape room include
Part 1. Inventors of the Industrial Revolution and their inventions
Part 2. Economists of the Industrial Revolution and their contributions to economics
Part 3. Big picture ideas and general facts on the Industrial Revolution
I would appreciate all feedback and would be happy to answer any questions you may have for me. Thank you in advance for the support!
