Students learn about the inventions and innovations of the Industrial Revolution by participating in a gallery walk in order to complete a chart. Each gallery station features pictures of the invention in question and key information. Stations include: mechanical reaper, telegraph, steel plow, steamboat, cotton gin, the factory system,cottage industry v factory system, the Lowell mills, and interchangable parts. The student handout is a chart with each of the above inventions (except cottage industry v factory system). Students must find the inventor, what the invention did, how it impacted/improved life in the United States, and how it contributed either to industrialization or Manifest Destiny.
