The following is a PPT presentation which highlights the main ideas, key terms, people, events, and effects of the Industrial Revolution on history and with an emphasis on effects on life. The PPT is divided into the following teachable sections: The Agricultural Revolution, The Start of the Industrial Revolution including why and where, Inventions in machines and transportation, changes in labor (i.e. mass production, assembly line, division of labor, etc.), Spread of Industrial Revolution, emigration, life in city, changes in society (women, children, education, sports), advances (in medicine, technology, communication, science), and lastly advances in (art, music, and literature).
I like to use this PPT as base knowledge for my students and then I move onto application activities in which students use their base knowledge to express what they learned.
I use a Newspaper Activity, and Brochure Activity, Web Quests, etc.
Many of the application activities I use are available for download as well!
