This is a group activity that takes a single class period. Students will be reading about various topics in their textbook, then the group will pause and the teacher will lead a socratic seminar. The idea is to have the students learn by discussing the various topics with each other. The teacher is provided with a list of leading questions to keep the conversation going.
Here is an excerpt from this assignment: “This is a Socratic Seminar about revolutionary ideas during the Industrial Revolution. Each person will be getting points based on participation, if everyone in the class participates three times, then the entire class will get extra credit on this assignment. ”
