The Industrial Revolution of the United States-19th Century contains two student activities that can be worked on alone or in groups of two students. The teacher’s choice.
ACTIVITY #1 - U.S. Industrial Revolution - Just a Little Information provides some very basic facts about the Industrial Revolution followed by a sheet of questions about the reading. The reading & questions can be completed in one class period.
I would follow the first activity with a class discussion or movie about the Industrial Period in the U.S. & world the next day. The impact on life in America should be included. Discuss the meaning of "revolution" and change. The Industrial Revolution was the beginning of today.
ACTIVITY #2 - Putting the U.S. Industrial Revolution on the Line - is a time line activity where the students will develop their own time line of the U.S. Industrial Revolution. I have provided specific instructions for the students & have included a non-chronological list of events from which they will choose the events they want to use for their time line. This activity can easily be turned into a group of two activity. If you choose to make it a group activity, increase the number of events they must include on the time Line.
