-The three major cholera outbreaks
-The public reaction to the outbreaks
-New York City’s attempts at containing it using the knowledge that they had at the time.
The webquest contains 52 questions and is a great way to educate students on cholera and the history of medicine and public health. Unique pictures and supplementary information make this webquest interesting for students. An answer sheet is included for the teacher.
For more information and to supplement this lesson plan, consider using clips from the BBC show ‘Filthy Cities Industrial New York.’ The show in full can be found on YouTube either by searching for it or Click here.
