For inequalities, 8th and 9th graders can easily figure out the patterns for number lines and interval notation given these 4 examples. This lesson is great, for the patterns actually stick in their minds, as compared to the times I have taught this standard using direct instruction. There are comprehension questions to solidify understanding, as well as practice problems.
Teacher instructions are given and an answer key is provided. My students are much more engaged when they figure out the patterns on their own. Practice problems are provided, which I used for guided notes to ensure everyone was on the same page. Have fun!
