This product contains a template which can be copied and used inside 9 x 12 plastic sleeves, with dry erase markers. Ten examples are included, for the teacher to project, and students to solve.
The examples will help students practice inequalities in one variable. Fluency between multiple representations of the Word (context) form, Symbolic form, and Graphical form will be assessed. The activity is appropriate for grade 8 math, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.
I used this with my Algebra 1 students and they were very engaged. I projected the examples, one by one. Students worked with a partner. They shared a template (in a plastic sleeve), dry erase markers and an eraser. The students recorded the representation that was provided, and determined the other two forms of the inequality. The examples promoted meaningful conversation between students. I circulated and when I found an "exemplar", I put that group's work under the document camera.
The examples include single, compound, special case and absolute value inequalities.
