These inference activities are fun and will help children think outside the box and generate creative ideas whilst developing their inference and writing skills.
This pack includes:
~ 8 inference ‘what am i?’ game cards
~ 'What’s in the bag' writing template
~ Inference paragraph writing template
~ 5 short youtube video clip links to help teach inferring
~ Discuss what inferring is and why it is useful
~ Laminate game cards and read to the students as a tuning in exercise, or let the children read them to each other and even come up with some of their own.
~ Place 6 objects of your choice in a ‘lost’ bag/handbag pull each item out one by one get the students to record it and discuss what it might infer about the person it belongs to, record the ideas using bullet points.
~ Write a paragraph about who they think the bag belongs to and give reasons/explanations for their decisions.
~ Use the youtube video clips to develop their inference skills further by stopping the clip and getting the children to infer what happens next.
