With this download, there are three different resources.
The first is an insert for a graphic organizer. It contains the definition of inferencing, as well as lines to model the way to inference with your students. I would recommend using a short article or read aloud for the first time to really model your own thinking aloud.
The second handout is in worksheet form; however, you could put it into a notebook too. It contains three columns. The students will write down their schema and text clues and then make an inference. You can do this with any resource that you assign, or you can do it whole group. It is an entire page, so students could make multiple inferences on the same story, or they could use it for multiple.
The third is a mini handout. For my students, they put this in their Interactive Notebook and anytime we make inferences, I have them ask themselves these questions and when answering, whether in writing or orally, I require them to use these stems. It gets them in a good habit of using academic language.
