This smartboard lesson provides helpful hints on how to infer at the start of the lesson. It asks the student to look at the characters and think about their actions, speech, interaction with other characters, etc. to decide what is really happening. Students will use their own background knowledge plus evidence from the text to infer. The last 8 slides of the lesson are short passages with a question that will require the student to infer. All slides offer answers and point out clues from the text that help the reader come to a conclusion. Some will have many possible answers which makes for a good discussion. Students should then support their answer with evidence from the text. Created with Smart Notebook 15. Great for grades 3-5.
