Introduction to Inference Bundle Pack-PowerPoint with Pictures, Riddles, Pixar Shorts, Matching Graphic Organizers, Practice Examples, and MORE!
I love using the Pixar Movie "Up" when I introduce inferences to my students. It is a great way to help students understand this abstract idea using a visual that they are usually familiar with because it makes the strategy more concrete.
The beginning of the movie, as well as the silent love story between Ellie and Carl, provide great material for inferences! The poignant story is perfect for students to see what inferences are because students must make inferences to understand what is happening.
Two versions of this organizer are included and can be seen in the preview above.
Both versions ask It asks for a clue from the movie and an inference that the student has made using the clue. A version with AND without Learning Targets and CCSS are included. Each version has 2 pages and can be printed back to back.
The purpose of the organizer is to give students a place to record inferences. Then, you can use this for students to discuss their inferences with each other, with the whole class, and then use it as a formative assessment to see how students are doing with inferring.
