This is a higher-level Poetry Slam activity. Students choose poems that they "slam" and read aloud. The reader will not provide the poem's title. The students use the graphic organizer to infer the poem's title and then provide evidence to support evidence. Finally, after sharing all the responses, the child can share their guesses and the reader can provide the actual title of the poem recited.
This is a great activity for the end of the year, the end of a poetry unit, as an anticipatory set for poetry, or teaching the difficult reading skill of inferring from the text.
This is common core aligned but in a FUN and engaging way! Great for practicing listening skills, favorite poets, or even fluency!
2 pages- graphic organizer and Poetry slam procedure. When I photocopied my pages, I doubled sided them for easy access. Enjoy!
