Make inferences every day in October! This resource contains daily inferencing activities for integrating literacy, science, and social studies for each day in the month of October. These higher order inference activities center on important events that happened on each date in October. For each day of the month, students are asked to read a passage about an important event in history and make inferences or answer inferencing questions about the passage. Single page activities for each date in October are included. Each page includes a short reading passage (less than 200 words each), 3 open ended critical thinking and inferential questions about the passage, and an extension activity. A second version of each activity is included. The second version contains only the reading passage and higher order thinking questions for each date. It can be used for differentiation purposes.
Uses for these activities include:
* Daily bell ringers/morning work activities
* Homework assignments
* Early finisher work
* Substitute plans
* Many other possible uses!
Each day's activity can be completed independently, in pairs, or by small groups of students. The activities are very versatile. Students can be given a short period of time to work on the task (10-15 minutes). Or, if discussion and group work is assigned, the tasks could take an entire class period. Topics include events from American and world history, pop culture, science, technology, and literary history. The page can be displayed on a smartboard or with a projector, or can be photocopied for student use. One file of answer keys is also included.
Two versions of the product in 3 separate files are included, along with answer keys. 75 pages total including:
* Version 1 – 31 pages (1 page for each day in October)
* Version 2 – 16 pages (½ page for each day in October)
* Answer Keys – 31 pages
