This flash card deck, Inferencing Cards with Answer Choices, was developed to introduce simple inferencing skills via prediction of outcomes. Although specifically designed for children with autism, these 24+ cards can be very useful for younger students with weaknesses in expressive language. There are various modes of presentation--print [each slide] on 5X8 unruled index cards, adhere the accompanying response cards to the back of the question cards, then laminate. OR-laminate each card individually and cut along the line on each answer card to mix-and-match response options. Once the child has mastered this set, questions can be presented without the picture/answer prompts.
-Expand the length of responses by asking ‘how’ or ‘why’ questions.
-Mix and max ‘absurd’ options and have the child explain why that answer is ‘absurd’.
