This is a re-cap lesson that I do with my grade 10's...it works really well as a re-cap to inferencing, which we do every year.
I always do this as my very first unit because they NEED to learn how to analyze properly - no matter what they're looking at. They also do it intrinsically all the time, but this helps them see that they know how to do it.
I project this on the whiteboard and we go over
-what is inferencing
-practice some visual inferencing together (answers are included after each photo)
-they practice two on two different worksheets
(one covers the 5 W's / the other one is just a basic inferencing worksheet that I made that's also in my shop)
-a re-cap of what inferencing is
-they practice a text-based inferencing sample
