Inferring with Short Vowel Sounds
Thanks for your interest in my Beginning Inferring/ Short Vowel-CVC Riddles. What better way to teach your beginning readers how to make inferences than by using fun riddles. This activity is perfect for whole group or center activities and not only focuses on beginning inferring but on short vowel sounds too. This product includes 45 riddles, nine for A,E,I,O, and U. Each riddle has three clues given for the picture. Read clues one by one, allowing some "think time", so it allows students time to make an educated "guess" as to what the answer is.
Each page of three riddles, comes in both colored and black line versions to accommodate your printing wishes.Simply print these on tag board, cut them out on the solid black line, laminate for durability, and fold backwards on the dotted line to hide the answer.
These can be used in whole group, small group, guided reading groups, literacy stations, in pairs, individually, or with parent volunteers. This format was so well received that I continue to use this format and have several different versions in my store to check out including:
